Set up Clair
Three things need to be in place: the app on your phone (and your watch, if you have one), the Clair agent on the computer where you use Claude Code, and a pairing between the two. It takes a few minutes.
What you need
- An Android phone running Android 12 or later.
- A watch running Wear OS 4 or later, if you want prompts on your wrist. The phone works on its own too.
- Claude Code on a Mac, a Linux machine or a Windows PC.
1. Install the app
Get Clair from Google Play on your phone. For the watch, install Clair from the Play Store on the watch, or from the same listing on your phone.
2. Run the setup guide on your phone
Clair opens with a short guide. Allow notifications, then choose when the phone should alert you as well as the watch: for every prompt, only when no watch is reachable, or never. You can skip any step and change it later in Settings.
3. Install the agent on your computer
The agent is one small program that runs in the background on the computer where you use Claude Code.
On a Mac or Linux, run this in a terminal:

irm https://claircode.app/install.ps1 | iexThe agent starts in the background and again each time you sign in, so there's no terminal to keep open.
4. Pair your computer
clair pairThe agent shows a code in the terminal. On your phone, open Connections in Clair and tap Scan code, or point the phone's camera at it. The terminal names the phone that scanned it and asks you to confirm, then adds Clair's hooks to Claude Code.
The first time a computer pairs, Clair offers the subscription that lets you answer from your phone and watch, with a free trial if Google Play has one for you. If you skip it, prompts still show on your phone and watch, and you answer them in the terminal. Home offers it again when you're ready.
5. Restart Claude Code
Claude Code reads its hooks when a session starts, so quit any running sessions and start them again. Then ask for something that needs your permission, like running the tests. The prompt shows on your watch and phone as well as in the terminal.
