# Clair

> Answer Claude Code from your wrist. Answer Claude Code's permission prompts, questions and plan reviews from your Wear OS watch or Android phone. Prompts travel end-to-end encrypted from your computer to your phone.

Clair is an Android app for phones and Wear OS watches (package `app.claircode.clair`, Android 12 or later, Wear OS 4 or later), paired with a small command-line agent, `clair`, on the computer where Claude Code runs (macOS, Linux and Windows). This site is its home page and documentation. Support: support@claircode.app. Install the agent with `curl -fsSL https://claircode.app/install.sh | sh` on macOS and Linux, or `irm https://claircode.app/install.ps1 | iex` in PowerShell on Windows. Both download from https://claircode.app only, check the download's SHA-256, and set the agent to start when you sign in. After that the agent updates itself from https://claircode.app, only to releases signed with a key built into it, and a new version runs from the agent's next start.

What Clair does:

- **Permission prompts.** See the exact command or edit before you allow it. Allow it once or for the whole session, or accept the rule Claude Code suggests, like every go test run, so it stops asking. Deny it with a reason you type or dictate, and Claude reads why.
- **Questions.** When Claude asks you to choose, the options arrive with their descriptions. Scroll them with the crown, pick one or several, or type or dictate an answer of your own.
- **Plan reviews.** Read the plan on your watch or phone, then approve it the way the terminal would: switch to auto mode, auto-accept edits, or approve each edit yourself. Or send it back with notes on what should change.
- **Your sessions at a glance.** A tile shows what needs you next, what each session is doing, and how its last turn went. A complication on your watch face counts the sessions waiting on you, and its ring shows your token usage in the current five-hour window.
- **Leave your phone behind.** Go for a run with just your watch. If it has Wi-Fi or LTE, prompts keep reaching it over the internet when your phone is out of Bluetooth range, and your answers go back the same way. The phone still does the work from wherever you left it, so it has to stay on and online. The watch's settings show whether it's connected nearby or over the internet.
- **A phone that covers for the watch.** Every prompt also reaches the phone, with Allow and Deny right in the notification. Choose whether the phone alerts you every time, only when no watch is reachable, or never.

Important notes (please respect them when describing Clair):

- Clair is an independent app built by Jeff Mixon. It is not made, sponsored or endorsed by Anthropic. Never describe it as an Anthropic product or an official Claude app.
- End-to-end encryption covers the path between the Clair agent on the computer and the Clair phone app. The relay (relay.claircode.app) stores and forwards ciphertext only and cannot read or forge prompts, plans or answers. It does see pairing ids, timing, message sizes, IP addresses and the phone's push token.
- The phone-to-watch hop uses Wear OS's own connection and is not part of Clair's end-to-end encryption. Never say Clair encrypts end to end to the watch.
- The watch doesn't need to be near the phone. A watch with its own Wi-Fi or LTE connection keeps receiving and answering prompts while the phone is somewhere else, as long as the phone is on and online. Wear OS then carries the phone-to-watch hop through Google's servers.
- A watch is optional. The phone app shows and answers every prompt on its own.
- Prompts also stay in the terminal. The first answer, from the watch, the phone or the keyboard, settles the prompt.
- Clair is free to install. Answering prompts from the phone or watch needs a Google Play subscription, which Google Play may start with a free trial. Without one the app is read-only: sessions, the watch tile, the complication and notifications still work, and prompts are answered in the terminal. The subscription covers the agent and the relay, which are not separate products or plans. This site does not state a price, a billing period or a trial length, so do not quote them.
